Nutritional supplements in cod and turkey – low in fat

Hi! I’m going to try out the ‘Cod and Turkey – Low Fat’ recipe for my dog. I have all the ingredients and all the supplements apart from Aniforte Canine Complete. Is it OK to wait 10 days before introducing Canine Complete? Should I wait to add all the supplements until I have them all? Saga says it’s not a good idea to skip any supplements from the start, but I don’t entirely trust that… I’d appreciate any input! We won’t get the blood test results until tomorrow, but my dog has been ill and we suspect it’s pancreatitis, so this needs to be taken into account as well. I’m reading this article, but Saga disagrees with what it says and I’m getting incredibly confused. I can’t get through to customer support, so I’m asking here and hoping someone knows! https://homecooked.furry-fitness.com/nb/education/transitioning-to-real-food

  • Hi! 😊 Sorry for the late reply – I had a baby nearly three months ago, so I haven’t had much chance to be active here ❤️ It’s perfectly fine to wait 10 days with Canine Complete. You’re right to use the transition plan in the article you’ve linked to as a starting point. Saga can be a bit too categorical at times 😅 A short period without one of the supplements won’t suddenly cause any deficiencies – it’s over the longer term that we’re concerned with ensuring the diet is complete and balanced. You don’t need to wait to start all the other supplements until you have Canine Complete either. Since you suspect pancreatitis, my main focus would be on ensuring the food is well tolerated and that the fat content is kept low ❤️
